When the entire world is fighting against a pandemic, the future and life of thousands of students are at stake. Is it really smart to conduct exams in such a situation?

EXAMS: At the cost of human life

“We used to cross valleys and mountains, travel miles on foot even cross rivers on our way to school, and study under the dim streetlights.”
Sounds familiar? Almost every unassuming kid who had dared to voice his distaste for learning or school has received this same rebuke and generations of kids have failed to come up with a convincing comeback but not anymore, now our youth will proudly reply that we have risked our lives to get our diplomas and degree. The pandemic which has succeeded in the closing banks, temples, and factories has failed miserably against exams.
College and universities are hellbent on conducting exams. India, a third world country, struggling against poverty, unemployment, and illiteracy, where even all the classrooms don’t always have fans, they claim that they can conduct offline exams and follow protocols of social distancing. Many regions of the country lack electric supply and they speak of conducting exams online. As if the uncertainty of the current situation isn’t distressing enough there is this confusion of exam. One day they will talk about online exams, the next day you receive notice of offline exams. Those students who had returned to their hometown are appalled. The dates of the exam get announced then it gets postponed. There is never a definite answer. The life and future of thousands of students are at stake.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
If students lose opportunities or worse their lives, who would be held accountable? The government? The educational institute? Or us?
Education is important but there is none above human life.
