Just a little contribution from our end, cannot just make people's lives better but also save them.

To Donate means 'to give'. Whenever somebody wishes to donate, it is symbolized as a donation. Donation can be in the form of goods, money, blood or even an organ to save someone's life. Donation is always for a good cause and is considered as an act of generosity

There are a number of charitable foundations or NGOs that work for the poor, needy, old, orphans and animals. They collect money, provide shelter and work for their betterment and well-being. Donation could be in any form whether it's giving away old clothes to a vendor or an NGO run for orphans or donating a rupee extra while ordering food from zomato. There are also various jars in certain restaurants where one can put in a few pennies and contribute in some way for a good cause. For eg Institute for the blind.

It takes an empathetic man to donate who feels deeply for those around him and wishes to contribue in any possible way. Hence it does reflect a lot on the person willing to donate. One can save a number of lives just by an act of kindness that consumes a few minutes from a day. It is also the sense of satisfaction one feels by simply doing something for someone in need.

Donations not only are available for humans but also for animal rescue and shelter donations for strays who need medical assistance and most importantly food, water and shelter. These centres are not just home to a number of animals but also help in the recovery and healing of injured pets. Some of these include- SEWA Animal Welfare, Society for the Welfare of Cruelty to Animals, Animal Husbandry Department, etc.

Top Five NGOs in India:

1) Smile Foundation- Promotes the cause of education amongst underprivileged children.

2) Nanhi Kali- Educating the girl child.

3) GiveIndia Foundation- For bringing about social change.

4) Goonj- Most powerful rural entrepreneur organization, mobilizing recyclable and reusable items like books, clothes, grains, export surpluses and much more from urban to rural centres.

5) HelpAge India- Providing support to India's abandoned, poor and isolated elderly folk, providing them emotional and material support.

These are just a few amongst many organizations working for the well being of the cummunity as a whole by being there for the ones deprived of the most basic needs- food, water and shelter. Donation also amounts to donating blood for an ailing patient in the hospital who could be from a wealthy family but has low haemoglobin or is infected by a disease and hence needs blood transfusion. It could also be donating an organ to save someone's life, for eg- replacement of a damaged kidney. Some people also choose to donate their organs after death, for eg- eyes that can totally transform a blind patient's life.

Hence, donation can vary from one level to another, but the fact remains that, to donate is to help improve lives somewhere, regardless of anywhere in the world. It will always be regarded as a good deed for a good cause.
