It is really hard to take that one step forward towards rehabilitation. Not just the person's decision to change will help, but also the people around the person who decides to change for the good. Their love and support is much needed in this journey,

Not everyone catches up with a bad habit for fun. Sometimes it can be due to huge loss or pain in their life. It is a sad fact a lot of teenagers fall for the drugs just to get relieved from stress and depression.

Mental health is as important as physical health. However, people fail most of the times to accept reality. Lately, the increase in the number of drug cases among teenagers and young adults as well as an increase in death by suicide rate made the society to realise the horrible truth about so many issues like mental health to a healthy lifestyle.

What is Rehab?

To put it in a simple way rehab is the first step you take after falling. Anything which takes control over us is known as addiction. Addiction is the stage where people fall in a deep pit, which makes it almost impossible to think and act upon their actions.  Rehab centres are formed to help people with alcohol addiction, drug addiction and a lot more.

The Journey to Rehab:

The journey to rehab begins the moment when the person who has fallen in addiction decides to change. Unless the person has the will power to accept and prepare themselves for change there won't be any progress. To make this possible, people around the affected person or any family member or friend can take them to a psychiatrist. This would be the first mandatory step in the process of rehabilitation.

Most of the hospitals and rehab centres conduct therapy sessions where people gather in small groups to discuss about their mental state and how they are working towards their goal. Depending on the severity of the addiction doctors may provide medication to help them recover in a healthy way. people around them should keep an eye about their intake of medications.

Love and Support from their loved ones will be a great encouragement for the affected people. Rather than judging and fighting with them, people around them could sit with them and talk about their problems. Family activities or trips can help them to feel better. Often affected people get criticized for their actions, it is the duty of the people around them to comfort them and assure them it is okay to be the way and they are getting better every day.

Patience plays a huge role when it comes to the journey of rehabilitation. Both the person who is undergoing the treatment and the people around them have to be patient in the process. Rushing won't help in any way. Time is the best healer, by following up the therapy sessions and taking medicines the road to recovery can be reached.
