The schemes that helped the NDA rule to established in the center are falling flat as the tenure of the present government increases.

It has been 6 years since a non-congress government has secured a majority in the parliament and formed their government at the centre. While the success of the Ram Janmabhoomi Movement has been achieved, few other significant schemes that brought the party to power are falling much behind. The policies that have enabled the party in securing the center stage in the Indian Politics have either been declared to be failed or unfulfilled within the last few years of the formation of this party. The three most important schemes and promises that has got left much behind over the last 6 years are:

The Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna: This was an innovative scheme that was brought into the scene by the NDA government in 2016 for the women living below the poverty line. The scheme looked forward to the distribution of around 50 million cooking cylinders among the women whose family annual income is below 20,000 rupees in a year. Although the scheme was able to gain initial success in its beginning phases, the scheme started to be on the backseat from the 2018. As per the recent report there are still 85% of the Ujjwala recipients are still dependent on the earthen stoves due to the lack of the refills of the cylinders that were distributed in the initial stage. Therefore, the absence in the process of continuing the refills the existence of the scheme becomes quite redundant.

The Limiting of Petrol Prices: One of the biggest promises made by the BJP government during the election campaigns of the 2014, is the checking of the ever rising petrol prices. In 2014 the petrol prices stood at 71.51 rupees, which has lately reached the 83.13 rupees in the month of september in 2020. While the crude oil price in 2014 was ranging in between 93 dollars to 100 dollars, is relatively low with an average of 38.52 dollars globally. This area has been declared as the most mismanaged area of the BJP rule prevailing in the last 6 years.

Demonetization Scheme: One of the most sudden and abrupt declaration of the policies was of the policy of demonetization. The two major aspects that the policy looked towards achieving is the recovery of the black money from the market and curb the funding of the terrorist organization. in the country. The Prime Minister has stated during the advocacy of this scheme that the excess cash circulation is one of the leading causes of these problems. As per the various reports published all over the world as well as the RBI, both these objectives are still far from being achieved as circulation of the cash has reached its all time high. It is even higher than it was in the pre declaration of the policies. Apart from this, the unfortunate Pulwama attack and the staggering 93% increase in the growth in the death of the security personnel due to terror attacks also tells a different story about Demonetization.
