5 Safest Countries to Travel as a Woman

Comments · 471 Views

Sometimes we just want to pack our bags and leave for another city or country. While others consider the affordable living situation or how cheap the beer is in that place, women's first thought is, "Is it safe to travel there alone?". Sad reality. Here is our pick!

1. South Korea

Seoul, the capital of South Korea is known as the city that never sleeps. This is a good thing for women traveling alone because it is never quiet, dark, or creepy anywhere, at any time. Another really good thing- your stuff never gets stolen!. Basically, if you leave your electronics behind in a cafe or even near an open area, you are most likely to find it there as it is. Isn't it amazing?

Cities other than Seoul, like Busan, Daegu, Jeju Island should also be on your travel itinerary!

2. Japan

According to the Economist 2017, Japan was ranked as one of the safest countries. Japan is rich in history and culture. Food is exquisite whether it from a street vendor or a Michelin star restaurant. Transportation is way too convenient and efficient for you to just stay in Tokyo. So, travel to Osaka for food, Kyoto for the temples and shrines, Kobe for high-quality beef, and Hiroshima for the tragic history.

People are generally on the shy side in Japan when approaching foreigners but most of them are nice and willing to help you out on your journey.

Oh and Hotsprings in Kotohira, you need to go!

3. Iceland

Iceland is a small island in the Nordic region of Europe. surrounded by glaciers, yet has volcanoes, lava fields, and hot springs. Iceland is one of the most unique places to visit in Europe as it offers you a landscape different than the rest of the continent. Iceland is more on the tranquil and peaceful side of Europe. The population is approximately 360k, sparsely located, given the geography of the country. Also, the country offers the best landscape to watch the northern lights.

In my opinion, if you are a picky eater, pack some snacks with you because Icelandic food may not be everyone's cup of tea.

4. Austria

I think I can say that Austria is a place for adults who appreciate the art, architecture and understand the history of the country. This is a very peaceful and quiet country. If you are into appreciating classic music, Vienna is the place to be, the birthplace of Mozart. If you love art, do visit the Belvedere Museum Vienna to see the original painting by Gustav Klimt, The Kiss.

Make sure to visit Salzburg and Hallstatt while you are there. They are really picturesque and will fulfill all your Instagram needs!!

5. Singapore

Singapore is the second safest country in the world according to the Global Peace Index 2019. It is a country which, on one hand, is technologically 10 years ahead of everyone but one the other hand also maintains its history and culture in various ways. It was and still is a melting pot of different cultures like Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, and Filipino. A must visit!

Every country has its positive and negative sides but that should not stop you from experiencing a different culture. If you are a woman embarking on a solo travel journey, do consider these countries.
