Ophiotaurus - A Greek mythological creature of chaos.

Ah !! a kingdom of imagica. The realms of mythology and fantasy. Emotions engraved with morals, inspiration, magical creatures, spells, desires, love, lust, and absolute horrendous nightmares. But truth to be spoken every fantasy entices us to unravel its mystery.

OPHIOTAURUS

Ophiotaurus was a Greek hybrid mythological creature whose body resembles a combination of a serpent and a bull. The name itself creates the unusual image of the creature, where { Ophio: serpent, Taurus: bull  ~SERPENT-BULL}. It was born from mother Gaia and Ouranos.

Ophiotaurus was a creature having immense magical power within itself during ‘ Titanomachy ’ or preferably known as the ‘Titan-Battle’. The battle occurred for about ten-year series, which was between The Titans(old-gen of gods) and The Olympians(young-gen of gods). It may not be one of the popular Greek mythological creatures but its role play was utmost prime.

It was entitled to supreme powers. Which was the noble cause for the creatures doom. Anyone who feeds the entrails of Ophiotaurus to the fiery consuming flames of fire deity, was destined to attain the righteous supremacy to defeat The GODS. This gifted power became a threatening of life for the creature and ravenous greed of power lust for others. Later it was killed by giant Briareus an ally of Titans with an adamantine axe in order to safeguard the triumph against Zeus(head of Olympians). But before the entrails of the creature could be burnt it was retrieved by an eagle sent by Zeus and the Titans plan was thwarted. Zeus then granted Ophiotaurus and the eagle to be placed in the heavens as constellations named “Taurus” and “Cetu”, in order to pay respect towards the sacrifice and loyalty made by the magical creatures.

Any bibliophile person having great taste in fictional books must have come across “ Percy Jackson The Olympians  - The Titan’s Curse”.

If yes, then you must have encountered the featuring of Ophiotaurus as “Bessie”.

  • Greek Mythology
  • Pathfinder
  • My little pony: Friendship is magic

These are some books and games where Ophiotaurus was featured.

“ Bessie?? But .... he’s too cute. He couldn’t destroy the word” – Percy Jackson

Ophiotaurus was born because it was unfortunately destined to die in order to fulfill a greater cause. No one loves to live life each and every minute in an utter threat. But here, Ophiotaurus moments became a game of gamble with life and death itself, trying to escape each time from death clasp just to breathe a few more seconds since birth.

Should Ophiotaurus be referred to as a mythological monster??

Honestly, I can’t call it a monster. In fact, it teaches us to fight our own battles bravely, whatever the situation might be. It was purposeful and soulful as well. As he was the only chosen one to carry out the highest life sacrifice for a greater good. Life is very precious to all, there are a lot of odds out there but only you can be the reason to make it even. Create your own happiness from every bit or else the evilstry dementors of the world are ready to kiss you anytime. It always has to be you who creates your own silver lining. Not always someone like Percy Jackson will come for rescue. Ophiotaurus was awesome but an unfortunate creature.
