Biggest threat to secularism is the minority appeasment in India which just disturbs the whole concept of secularism in India.

Minority appeasement also known as wooing the minority and overlooking India's Hindu majority was the only reason why India Today is known as pseudo secular. In the Indian context the terms to the secularism is used to pejoratively describe policies considered to involve minority appeasement. The Hindus from the majority religious community in India the terms used secularism implies that those who claim to be secular are actually not so but are anti Hindu or pro minority. the Hindu nationalist politicians accused of being communal use it as a counter accusation against their critics.

The first record used to the term pseudo secularism was in the book philosophy and action of the RSS for the Hindu Swaraj by Anthony Elenjimittam. In his book he accused leaders of Indian National Congress of pretending to uphold secularism. After the BJP was accused of representing the Hindu communalism in Indian politics its stated using the counter charge of pseudo secularism against the Congress and other parties. The state policies of independent India accorded special rights to Muslim in matter of personal law. For example in the Shah Bano case Muslim women was denied alimony even after winning a court case, because the Indian parliament reserve the court judgement on the pressure of Islamic orthodox. Also the religion based reservation and civil and educational institution are also seen as the evidence of pseudo secularism. the Indian secularism is not aunty religious is widely understood but not that it is simultaneously against both form of institutionalized religion dominated. The inter religious dimension was from the meaning of secularism and much of the determine of its overall value secularism begin to be identified by opponents alike exclusively with the defence of minority rights This opened the door for viewing secularism first as a tool to protect the interest of Muslims and Christians of no relevance to Hindu is and then for twisting it to appear as true Muslim and anti Hindu. The strength of Indian secularism with advocacy of minority cultural rights was easily made to appear as its weakness and the burden of its defence rather than be shared by all citizens fell on the shoulder of minorities as pro minority secularists.

What then must be expected from real genuine secularism? justice to all citizens of formation of all reasonable religious identities rejection of majority communism careful defence of legitimate minority rights only when accompanied by a robust critique of minority extremism and the critical appraisal of religion with deeper and pathetic dress of the tradition. The government primary business is to prevent religion based violence operation and discrimination perhaps those outside the government should attend to its other function. Together we may just rescue our genuine secularism.
