Parenting : Even when it's hell, it's heaven

We all know that motherhood is not a job, but the moms are always there to offer you support and advice when it all starts to seem like a little too much.  Good parenting demands a great deal of consistency and routine, which gives children a sense of control. It focuses on developing the independence in children, so the aim for parents is being redundant. Good parenting involves a way that considers children's age and the stage of development.

A good parent is someone who attempts to make decisions in the best interest of the child. No child is perfect either. Keep this in mind, it is important when we set our expectations. Successful parenting is not about achieving perfection. But it does not mean that we should not work towards this goal.

Babies don’t actually need too much. If you focus on the work of a baby, that is eating, sleeping, pooping and repeating and the items required to accomplish these tasks are pretty minimal. But still our homes are full of baby stuff. So, where does all the excess stuff that fills the homes come from? Most of the items we buy in the first year of parenthood are arranged for our own comfort and convenience.

There are various ways in which you can control the excess stuff from homes.

  • Avoid crowd sourced lists – These lists leads to overbuying. If you use few moms’ lists, you will end up so deep in the products that you won’t even know what to do with them.

  • Invest in multi-usage products – invest in the items that are of long term use like furniture, mattress, and stroller. You can keep the other items like toys, to a minimum.

  • Don’t over-commit – Your goal should be to acquire a sample of things and double down once you know what you like and what works for your baby. Trying to be prepared with many of every type of swaddle, blanket and all the different cushions will only make you well-stocked in the clutter category later on.

  • Don’t purchase items for problems you and your baby don’t have –If a mom’s friend’s favorite baby item was something that helped her comfortably breastfeed, don’t purchase that item because you do not know if it will be useful for you or you will have same challenge.

Many moms must have items are products that solve a problem for them. Since you don’t yet know what your challenges will be, jumping the gun on these items will indirectly leave you with a closet full of things you never used. Only buy for your personal situation. Closely consider your space before purchasing the huge items; dimensions are listed on products for a reason.
