we often hear people saying "plastic is a curse", "plastic should be banned" and what not, but is plastic the real foe?

I will say plastic is not the problem. It has done more good to us than harm. Vegetables are no more seasonal as they can be stored for longer periods by storing them in air tight containers, our phones are getting smarter, laptops are getting slimmer, our clothing isn't limited to natural fibers anymore. There are  conditions where natural alternatives areano good. Without plastic development will seize. Without it we would be just as developed as we were before it.

Reckless and prodigal use of plastic is the real problem. People will throw plastic anywhere they see fit and then will say "plastic should be banned". It is always easier to put blame on others than to admit your own mistakes.
